INVISALIGN: THE BARELY THERE BRACE
INVISALIGN IS A MODERN ALTERNATIVE TO METAL BRACES.
Invisalign works like a normal brace but are much less noticeable and more comfortable to wear. These braces have been around since the early 2000s but hadn’t gained much popularity until recent years. Many celebrities including, Khloe Kardashian and Zac Efron, have been opting for Invisalign and have
shared their experiences on social media. Sharing with their wide audiences is helping to boost the awareness of Invisalign and the surge in demand for this innovative brace.
Unlike traditional braces that many of us have had, it is made from plastic and is similar in appearance to a dental retainer that is usually worn after the removal of metal braces. The plastic brace is comfortable to wear due to its malleable material and is made specifically to work with the shape of your teeth. This is done by using a 3D scanner (Sloan Dental are the only practice in Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire to use this amazing technology) and x-rays to ensure that the brace is a perfect fit.
THE PROCESS IS QUICK AND SIMPLE.
Invisalign: the barely there brace
Normally every 2 weeks, the patient gets a new set of plastic braces with a slight adjustment in alignment which helps to move their teeth into the correct position. More recently, Invisalign have adapted a new treatment which means the time period of wearing the braces can be halved and each brace is only worn for around a week.
As Invisalign braces are removable, it makes eating much easier and omits the chore of having to brush teeth after every meal like you would with metal braces. It is recommended that you keep your braces in for 22 hours a day and clean them regularly as instructed by your dentist.
The length of Invisalign treatment depends on the severity of the case. If you require several teeth to be repositioned, the course can take longer. If there is only one tooth, the course is usually shorter but a dentist will be able to give you a rough estimate.
